Now that the school year is in full swing and playdates and after school activities abound, some days I feel like I live in my car! I am a glutton for some Taco Bell….I was singing “Hallelujah” when they brought back those nacho fries! But my body doesn’t love runs for the border nearly as much as my taste buds do.
We asked our community what your go to healthy(ish) drive thru restaurants were and several clear leaders emerged.
My favorite is the turkey and avocado on hazelnut bread. My kids love the smoothies and will share the fresh sliced turkey from my sandwich. Good ol' PB&Js are on the menu too.
I was happy to hear d'Litetopped this list because this is my absolute favorite. I crave their tuna salad sandwiches and we all enjoy their seasonal smoothies. The kids love the grilled cheese too. With three locations, you're never too far from one.
Admittedly, I’ve never tried Salad & Go, but will now as it is a clear fan favorite, creating a #drivethrurevolution. They have 13 locations throughout Scottsdale, Phoenix, Mesa, and Gilbert, Queen Creek, and Tollesin.
Gone are the days where Starbucks only serves caffeinated must haves. The sous-vide egg bites and the bistro boxes are awesome, high-protein snacks that our readers and kids alike turn to when stuck in the car.
While not all valley locations have a drive thru, our lucky readers near Tatum and Shea frequent the window offered there for healthy-on-the go.
A lot of mamas mentioned Chick-Fil-A as a healthy alternative. They obviously have far more self-control than I because I can't get within 500 yards of the place without salivating for the fried goodness that is their nuggets and waffles fries. I'm told they do have better-for-you grilled chicken options though (I'll likely never know).
Not everything is healthy, but the Boston Market window has some good options like the chicken sandwiches and salads, and great comfort food of course.
