Simple Hair & Makeup Tips For Moms: Self Care Volume 1

Simplified Hair Routine

My hair is thick which means it can take a good 40 minutes to blowdry. If you’re a mom and have time for that I’d like to meet you; You are my super hero.

After my son was born, my hair was always in a messy bun. In fact, there were times I couldn’t remember the last time I brushed it. I knew I needed to get back into a hairstyling routine, but how was I going to fit it in?

My solution? Weekly blowouts! The small investment in a blowout means my hair looks great and stays nice throughout the week (even after workouts), plus I can take my computer and work at the same time! So, I get amazing looking hair and gained an hour of free time….yes please!

TIP 1: I like to get a blowout on a Thursday or Friday afternoon. If I take days off from working out, it’s typically on a weekend so then my blowout lasts longer. Whenever I go to workout after having a blowout, I put my hair up in a scrunchie instead of an elastic band to avoid those pesky creases and kinks.

TIP 2: If you’d prefer to just rock a ponytail, I suggest inveSting in a couple Pony-O’s! A perky pony will add some pep to your step. I promise!

Be Your Own Makeup Artist

I was never taught how to properly apply makeup, and as I would scroll through my Instagram feed I’d find myself saying “Oh wow, her makeup is flawless. Why can’t I look like that?” It began chipping away at my self-confidence so I decided to do something about it!

I invested in learning how to choose and apply makeup in a simplified manner. I was introduced to Jaime McLaughlin, makeup artist and fellow momma, who was the answer to my prayers. She herself had faced the “I don’t have time for makeup” rut so she created The Complete Guide To Beauty.

Her simple guide offers easy to navigate directions and video on choosing colors for your skin tone, proper application, brush selection and purpose, and even hairstyling tips!

TIP: Get Jaime’s Complete Guide To Beauty, you won’t regret it!

I'll be back soon to share more of my personal self care practices, and I'd love to hear yours. Drop them in the comments!
